SpaceGame DevLog 002
Space game 0.09 is taking a little longer than I had planned, but it’s going to be packed. I decided to simplify the art and go with a more blocky design, this might change in the future. Im currently work on balancing issues right now and I’ve found that as you upgrade your ship, enemy’s start to become minor annoyances rather than an important challenge that could stop you in your tracks. There is one thing I don’t plan on changing about the enemy’s and it’s the predictability of there movements, I feel as tho it still takes some time to learn the ropes without feeling like your being punished by the game in a way you couldn’t avoid. A YouTuber I watch was talking about Halo 2 and Halo Reach bringing up the fact that as you raised the difficulty you raised the chances to be unfairly killed due to something you couldn’t avoid which I want to stray away from.
I’m not 100% sure if I’ll be finished with this before 0.09 is released but I’ve been working on completely overhauling the different looks and upgrades of your ship when when you hit a new level threshold. Every five levels you will get a new ship design each a different color than the last and each with a different way of firing your gun. The last design on your ship is level 35 which is where I’m going to keep it for the remainder of this project, as I balance everything out hitting level 35 is going to be a very difficult achievement that will feel rewarding to the player.
Honestly at this point in time it’s hard to estimate the development time of this game, I think six months is a fair guess but for now that remains unknown
I’m saying this now to get it out of the way this game will have NO micro-transactions every update and version of the game will remain free to play until the final game is out at which point it will cost money to download.
